Attending world’s largest interactive entertainment expo gamescom as partner country this year, Turkey has already become the center of attention both for the press and visitors with its massive stand area over 500 square meters. Created with the joint contributions of Game Developers Association of Turkey (TOGED), ODTÜ TEKNOKENT, and Turkish Electro Technology (TET), Turkey booth hosts leading video game and software companies, as well as independent developers.

Turkey Loves Indies campaign, which is launched as a part of Turkey’s extensive support for independent developers, stands out as the focus of this year’s partner country. The campaign’s goal is to inform all independent developers about the supports provided for the game developers by Turkish government, and is highly anticipated by both international press and trade visitors.

As part of this year’s gamescom partner country theme, Turkey has chosen to underline video games as a medium that brings various people and cultures. Thanks to this unifying message, attending Turkish companies draw the attention of press and investors from around the world. Rising to an international fame and gathering a fan base of millions along the way with Mount & Blade series, Taleworlds Entertainment is showcasing their highly anticipated latest addition to the series, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord at studio’s specially-designed booth.

Other heavy hitters of the Turkish stand area are Gram Games, popular globally among the mobile players with their addictive game 1010!, Panteon, developers of MoBu and Legendary Team both of which won many awards 2015 Kristal Piksel Video Game Awards, No70 Games and their recently greenlit horror game No:70, Mildmania, famous for their Apple Store hits such as Darklings and Rop, and Hologram, a company that has put out great work in VR. Also in Turkish booth are Simsoft, Game Looper, DIGITOY GAMES, GamePro, Kodobur, Magiclab, UDO Games, and Reality Arts. Providing various supports for game developers since 2008, ATOM is an important part of the Turkish pavilion. The pre-incubation center has created more than 2 million dollars’ worth of export with 400 games, and is now taking pride in 12 games that it helped create being showcased at the country booth.

When it comes to Turkish game localization and/or voiceover Melodika and Stüdyo 23 are the first two companies that come to mind, and these first time members of Turkey booth also gain a lot of attention from international developers. There are also familiar names from last year’s gamescom. Famous local online payment provider PaybyMe, and GIST, which received much credit for the gaming expo they organized last February, are once again a part of the country booth.

Owner of Turkey’s leading gaming channel and magazine Oyungezer, and the only gaming oriented digital agency that offers 360 degrees customized solutions for gaming industry, setimedia will also be at the Turkish stand area. Conn, a manufacturer of customized liquid cooled gaming and performance PCs, is also among the many exhibitors.
